New Mexico Captures Third Straight MWC Men's Golf Championship Lobos finish with a 54-hole total of eight-under 856.

SUNRIVER, Ore. - New Mexico captured its third straight Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship Saturday at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. BYU sophomore Nick Becker claimed the individual title, while New Mexico's Spencer Levin finished second and Ron Harvey, Jr., of BYU and Ryan Moore of UNLV tied for third. After a third round performance of two-under 286, the Lobos finished with a 54-hole total of eight-under 856 and secured the team championship by three strokes over UNLV. The Rebels entered the final round in third place, but moved up to second after posting the lowest round of the tournament with a 10-under 278.
BYU, the 2003 and 2004 runner up, finished third with a three-under 861, followed by San Diego State in fourth with a score of 11-over 875. Colorado State was fifth (886) Wyoming sixth (898), Utah seventh (904) and Air Force eighth (907).
Individually, BYU sophomore Nick Becker climbed to the top of the individual standings after recording the lowest round of the tournament with a four-under 68 today on the par 72, 7,568-yard Crosswater Course. Becker's three day total of eight-under 208 (71-69-68) was one-stroke better than New Mexico's Spencer Levin, who posted a two-under 70 in the final round, and 54-hole score of seven-under 209. Ron Harvey, Jr., of BYU and 2004 MWC Champion Ryan Moore tied for third with a three-under 213. Harvey Jr., entered the day tied for third and remained in that position with a two-under 70 this afternoon. Moore continued his ascent up the ranks after being tied for 26th after day one. Moore, who shot a 74 and 70 over the first two rounds, fired a three-under 69 on the final 18 holes.
