MWC Weekly Tennis Awards TCU's Jacopo Tezza and BYU's Olga Boulytcheva net honors
March 1, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU's Jacopo Tezza and BYU's Olga Boulytcheva have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. A senior from Verona, Italy, Tezza posted a 1-0 mark in singles play and a 1-1 record in doubles competition last week as he helped the 23rd-ranked Horned Frogs to a pair of victories. In a win over No. 72 Denver, Tezza teamed with Kriegler Brink for a doubles victory over the Pioneers (8-8 [9-7]). In a win over No. 24 LSU, Tezza defeated the Tigers' Paul White (6-2, 6-4). A senior from Moscow, Russia, Boulytcheva led the 19th-ranked Cougars to a 1-1 mark last week after posting a 2-0 record in singles play and a 1-1 record in doubles competition. In a victory over No. 51 Wisconsin, Boulytcheva defeated Nicole Beck in singles play (6-1, 6-2) and teamed with Sofia Holden to post a doubles win vs. the Badgers (8-3). She also defeated 27th-ranked Catrina Thompson of No. 7 Notre Dame in singles play (6-1, 6-1), improving to 10-1 in singles matches on the year.
